Free Business Bank Account in UAE: Steps, Fees & Documents

Bank information and links checked on 25 September 2026. Confirm current terms with the bank before applying.

Yes, a UAE company can apply for a business bank account with no monthly account fee. Some plans also have no minimum balance requirement. But the word free deserves a closer look: an account may still charge for transfers, cards, cheques or cash deposits. Before you apply, check both the price of keeping the account and the price of using it.

For a founder with a new trade licence, the wrong account can cost more than a suitable paid plan. Here is how to compare options and prepare your application.

What counts as a free business account?

Bank marketing often puts three separate features under one label:

  • No opening fee means there is no one-time account setup charge. It does not tell you whether an initial deposit is needed.
  • No minimum balance means you do not need to keep a stated monthly average in the account. A monthly subscription may still apply.
  • No monthly fee means the plan has no recurring account or package charge. Individual services may still cost money.

With a conditional waiver, a fall-below fee may apply when your balance drops. Read the condition before choosing a plan.

Which UAE bank plans are worth comparing?

The following figures come from official bank pages checked 25 September 2026. They are examples of different pricing models, not a promise of eligibility or a complete market comparison.

Can a newly licensed company apply?

Yes. Mbank says new mainland and free zone companies with a valid UAE trade licence can apply. The bank still decides whether to open the account. Source: Mbank FAQ, accessed 25 September 2026.

No invoices yet? Say so. Explain expected revenue, customers, suppliers and initial funds. Ask whether a contract, quotation or plan would help.

Check who can sign before you start

Review the memorandum, amendments, board resolution and any power of attorney. Confirm whether one person can open and operate the account or joint signatures are needed. Resolve mismatched names or powers before applying.

What documents should you prepare?

Requests vary. Mbank and Mashreq list a trade licence, memorandum, applicable resolution, identity documents, address proof and bank statements where applicable. Mbank also lists incorporation documents. Sources: Mbank FAQ and Mashreq NEO BIZ, accessed 25 September 2026.

Business account application checklist

Valid trade licence and incorporation certificate, if issued.

Memorandum of association and every relevant amendment.

Shareholding details and passports and Emirates IDs requested for owners and signatories.

Board resolution or power of attorney, if needed, showing banking authority.

Proof of the company’s operating address.

Clear description of activities, likely customers, suppliers and trading countries.

Expected turnover, payment currencies and typical transaction size.

Evidence supporting the proposed source of initial funds, if requested.

Existing business or personal bank statements, where applicable and requested.

Keep document names, licence activities, addresses and ownership percentages consistent. A mismatch can lead to follow-up questions and slow an otherwise straightforward submission.

What does the bank check during KYC?

KYC checks establish who owns or controls the business and how it expects to use the account. Expect questions about clients, suppliers, trading countries and funds. Source: CBUAE due diligence guidance, published 6 November 2025; accessed 25 September 2026.

If an owner will fund the account from savings, explain the origin and provide records if requested. Disclose any third-party funding accurately.

How do you apply, step by step?

  1. Choose the account features you need. Decide whether AED banking is enough or whether foreign currency, cash services, cheques or WPS payroll are essential.
  2. Read the complete pricing. Check opening, monthly, balance-related and transaction charges, including any waiver conditions.
  3. Confirm eligibility with the bank. Ask whether it accepts your licence type, business activity and ownership structure.
  4. Prepare the documents and authority. Resolve expired documents, missing amendments and signatory inconsistencies.
  5. Submit through an official channel. Provide accurate KYC information and keep a record of what you submitted.
  6. Answer follow-up requests promptly. The bank may request clarification, extra documents or an identity verification call.
  7. Review the account terms after approval. Verify your actual plan, payment limits and fees before your first transaction.

How long does business account opening take?

Wio says customers can get up and running in three working days. That is not an individual guarantee: missing documents, unclear authority or KYC questions can extend the review.

Make the account fit your business

The best free business bank account in UAE stays affordable when you use it. Few AED payments may favour no monthly fee; frequent overseas payments make currency support and transfer costs more important.

If you need help checking documents, signatory authority or published bank requirements, speak with KIF Consultancy. KIF can help you prepare for business account opening; the bank alone decides whether to approve the application.
